TIM Flowers admits individual errors are costing his side after Alvechurch suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat away at Stourbridge.

The game’s only goal came on 32 minutes as veteran striker Tyrone Barnett came back to haunt his former club at the War Memorial Athletic Ground.

The result means Alvechurch sit 11th in the Southern League Premier Central table.

And Flowers bemoaned his side’s first-half performance as Church lost a game by a single goal for the 14th time this season.

Flowers said: “It’s a carbon copy of the last four or five games, we get beat one-nil from two mistakes.

“We don’t set-up properly to defend a long throw down the line and it goes out for a corner and the ball is put two yards out and we lose a man around the back.

“In the first half we were nowhere near good enough, we looked stretched at times defensively. We haven’t asked enough questions of their goalkeeper.

“I had to have another moan at the players at half time, it’s becoming a theme, for some reason we seem unable to put in a first-half performance.

“From the time I came in, we weren’t scoring any goals, then we did start to score a few goals and the last four or five games we’ve reverted to type a little bit.

“We’ve got to finish the season properly, we’ve got to make sure that we do our job, we need to keep our foot on the pedal.

“What irritates me is that none of the opposition that have beaten us in the recent past have done anything to beat us.

“We’ve give them something, every single goal we’ve conceded is an individual error at the back.

“If we’re going to be a threat in this division next year or be really competitive at the right end, we’ve got to improve massively.”

The game’s decisive moment came just past the half-hour mark when Barnett headed in Blaine Rowe’s corner from the left at the back post from point-blank range.

Alvechurch are next in action against Royston Town on Saturday, April 5 with kick-off at 3pm at Lye Meadow.
