BROMSGROVE RFC slipped to a 31-13 defeat against unbeaten league champions Syston.
The Boars scored all of their points in a close first half as Thomas Cubitt dotted down the away side’s only try at Barkby Road.
And the result means Bromsgrove sit third in the Regional 1 Midlands table with two matches left to play.
Syston flew out of the traps to score the game’s first try after just five minutes before Tom Mitchell kicked a penalty to reduce the deficit on the half-hour mark.
The teams exchanged tries from the restart as Cubitt touched down for the Boars while Syston crossed twice to command of the game.
However, a Will Tanner penalty before the break saw Bromsgrove close the gap to four points at the interval.
Syston ran in two tries at the start of the second half to take the game away from the Boars as the visitors threw everything at the champions to no avail.
Bromsgrove are next in action against Silhillians on Saturday, March 29 with kick-off at 3pm at Finstall Park.
