FOOTBALL - Bromsgrove Rovers AFC to face Hampton Sports this weekend

BROMSGROVE Rovers AFC will need to be at their best when facing fourth placed Hampton Sports this weekend, writes Neil Gordon.

Rovers lost 8-2 against Hampton last month as the club suffered the heaviest-ever defeat in their short history.

Sports are one of two teams who could overtake Rovers in the Birmingham and District Football League Division Two table if they win their games in hand, and victory would see them go third and also overtake North Solihull who are in cup action.

Solihull face Division One high-flyers Galore in the semi-finals of the Holder Cup and will need to be at their best against the favourites for the Division One title.

Solihull go into the game on the back of a surprise 5-2 defeat against Nechells Athletic, while Galore dispatched fourth-place Kingston 4-0.

Nechells have won their last three games and should be too strong for inconsistent Walsall Phoenix, even away from home. Phoenix lost 3-0 to lowly Polesworth on Saturday.

Meanwhile eleventh-placed Polesworth could be in for a difficult afternoon when they travel to leaders Silhill, who will be hosting their second of five consecutive home games.

Ninth-placed Match of The Day are one of three sides on ten points and return to action with a tough fixture against fifth-placed Hopwood Swifts, who beat them 7-0 in November.

Boldmere Sports and Social Falcons entertain Redditch Borough in a reverse of Saturday’s fixture, when Boldmere ran out 4-0 winners at Cherry Tree Walk. Mid-table Boldmere should be favourites to complete a double over a Borough side playing catch-up with their Division Two fixtures.

Rovers AFC travel to Hampton Sports on Saturday, March 15 with kick-off at 2.30pm at Field Lane and admission free.
