Safari Park visit is a delight for Worcestershire foster parents and their young ones

FOSTER families from across Worcestershire enjoyed ‘an unforfettable day out’ at West Midlands Safari Park during February half-term.

A special celebration event organised by Worcestershire County Council’s fostering team saw 250 fostering families come together.

Despite some rainy weather, organisers said the day was filled with joy and laughter. One foster carer said: “Wasn’t it brilliant. Everything was so organised and so well thought through.

“The animals and children were so well behaved and it was such a treat. Thank you.”

The event provided a chance for foster carers and young people to relax and create happy memories together.

Councillor Steve Mackay, Worcestershire Council Council Cabinet Member for Children and Families said: “It was heartwarming to see so many children excited and happy, enjoying a well-deserved day out with their foster families.

“Our foster carers provide an invaluable service, and we were delighted to be able to offer this special day as a small token of our appreciation.”

In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, the Worcestershire Fostering team also took the opportunity to gather heartfelt messages from young people and their foster carers, celebrating the small but meaningful gestures that make a difference in their lives. Young people said things such as ‘I love it when you get me books and take me to Waterstones’ and ‘I love it when you are always supportive of the choices I make and how you always fight for my views’.

Vikki Green, Head of Marketing at West Midlands Safari Park said: “We are absolutely delighted to have hosted Worcestershire County Council’s Fostering Day here at West Midlands Safari Park.

“It’s been a fantastic opportunity to support such an important cause, providing foster families with a memorable and enriching experience surrounded by incredible wildlife.

“We are proud to work alongside the council in celebrating and appreciating the amazing work foster carers do for children across the county.”

Worcestershire Fostering continues to encourage more people to consider fostering and support children who need safe and loving homes.
