JACK Dawkins scored four goals as Bromsgrove Rovers AFC thrashed Yardley Wood 10-0 to record their biggest-ever victory, writes Neil Gordon.
Dawkins netted an 11-minute treble after also scoring Bromsgrove’s sixth goal while recent signing Joe Cowman netted his first goal for the club.
And Ryan Moore, Tom Hill, Alex Footman, Tom Clewes and Dan Jones all found the net in a club-record win at Charford Road.
The result leaves Bromsgrove joint top of the Birmingham and District League Division Two table with Silhill as the Greens stretched their unbeaten run in the league to nine matches.
Managerless Yardley Wood endured a torrid afternoon and could only field nine players at kick-off due to travel delays.
Rovers AFC made the perfect start when Moore opened the scoring from kick-off.
And both Hill and Footman scored headers from corners before Clewes converted from the penalty spot to put the Greens in command.
Yardley Wood finally had 11 players on the pitch on 27 minutes as two late arrivals looked to improve the visitors’ fortunes.
However, a glorious free-kick from Jones put Bromsgrove further ahead before Dawkins netted his first of the game to send Rovers AFC into the break with a six-goal advantage.
The visitors almost scored a consolation goal at the start of the second half as Marcell Bridgen-Insular saw his effort come back off the crossbar.
However, a stunning 11-minute hat-trick from Dawkins took his tally for the game to four goals.
And substitute Cowman completed the rout when he stooped to head in his first goal for the club to seal a club-record 10-nil victory.
Rovers AFC assistant manager Kristian Rock said: “I’m pleased with the result and the clean sheet as it helps our goal difference.
“New signing Joe Cowman looked good and we now have competition for places.”
Bromsgrove host Hampton Sports on Saturday, February 1 with kick-off at 2.30pm at Charford Road and admission free.
