CARTER Lycett scored a late equaliser as Bromsgrove Sporting rescued a late point in a 1-1 draw away at Spalding United.

Lycett levelled the game two minutes from time at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field after Glenn Walker’s early goal opened the scoring.

That came after Sporting claimed an impressive 2-0 home win against Stourbridge on Boxing Day.

Goals in either half from Jamie Meddows and Fin Holmes earned the Rouslers back-to-back home wins in the league at the Victoria Ground for the first time this season.

The results mean Bromsgrove sit 20th in the Southern League Premier Central relegation zone, three points from safety.

Sporting fell behind against Spalding after just 11 minutes when Walker’s shot took a slight deflection and nestled in the bottom corner.

Rouslers goalkeeper Charlie Price made a couple of crucial saves to keep Sporting in the contest whule Spalding stopper Tony Breeden twice denied the visitors late on.

However, Sporting eventually drew level on 88 minutes as Theo Robinson returned the ball to Lycett in the box and the latter coolly under Breeden.

Bromsgrove are next in action against Halesowen Town on Wednesday, January 1 with kick-off at 3pm at The Grove.
