Help shape Bromsgrove's Air Quality Action Plan by taking part in new survey

Bromsgrove Editorial 28th Dec, 2024 Updated: 28th Dec, 2024   0

A SURVEY has been launched encouraging people to have their say on an action plan for cleaner air across Bromsgrove.

Last week Bromsgrove District Council’s cabinet approved the draft Air Quality Action Plan (AQAP).

It covers the measures the council will take to reduce levels of nitrogen dioxide, particularly in Worcester Road, which triggered the plan after being identified as having high readings.

Actions identified in the AQAP include the installation of public electric vehicle charging points, improvements to the local public transport and developing a local cycling and walking plan.

Now a survey has been launched to help further develop the plan to find out which issues are a priority for people who live and work in Bromsgrove.

Bromsgrove District Council’s cabinet member for climate change, councillor Kit Taylor, said: “Air pollution is associated with several adverse health impacts.

“It is recognised as a contributing factor in the onset of heart disease and cancer particularly putting our more vulnerable residents at risk.

“Our officers and partners have worked together to create this document which will be regularly reviewed to ensure we are on track and improvements are being made.

“Now we want to hear from our residents about their priorities which will help us to further develop the plan and provide better air to breathe in Bromsgrove.”
