A 19-YEAR-OLD from Bromsgrove has been jailed after sexually assaulting a teenage girl.
Cory Butler, currently in HMP Fosse Way, Leicestershire, was sentenced to three years for engaging in non-consensual sexual activity with a teenage girl in May 2021 when he was 16-years old.
Butler was interviewed in June 2023, when he initially denied all offences and but was later charged in the following February.
In October this year, Butler pleaded guilty to three counts of non-penetrative sexual activity with a girl 13 to 15, and one count of engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a girl 13 to 15.
Three-year term
Yesterday (Wednesday), Butler was handed a three-year jail term of which he must serve a minimum of 18 months. He was also given a 15-year restraining order against the victim and will remain on the sex offenders register for life.
Det Con Jessica Hill, of North Worcestershire CID, said: “I would like to praise the young victim again, for being so brave and strong throughout the long process of reaching this conviction.
“There have been many hurdles, but I hope that this result can finally provide her with some closure and allow her and her family to move forward.
“We take all reports of sexual assault seriously and will investigate to bring offenders to justice.”
