Bromsgrove employees help pick recipients of Cadbury Foundation grants

THE CADBURY Foundation has donated vital funds to two national charities after Mondelez employees in Bromsgrove helped cherry pick the grant winners.

To mark the 200th anniversary of the iconic Cadbury brand, a special roadshow for colleagues toured across the UK, including Marlbrook, inviting them to vote for charities to receive a share of £200,000 from the brand’s foundation.

After receiving the most votes from local colleagues, charities GroceryAid received a £5,000 grant and Trussell was awarded a £8,000 donation.

GroceryAid will use the grant to continue offering free and confidential financial, emotional, and practical support to colleagues across the grocery industry.

And Trussell will use the funds to support food banks in their UK wide community by providing emergency food and practical support while working for a more just and compassionate society where no one needs a food bank to survive.

Mandi Leonard, Welfare Director at GroceryAid, said: “We are delighted and extremely grateful to have been nominated for a donation.”

The Cadbury Foundation, which is celebrating its 90th anniversary next year, was set up in 1935 in recognition of Richard and George Cadbury and their investment in the welfare of their employees and the local community.

Kelly Farrell, community affairs manager at Mondelēz International, added: “As we celebrate the incredible 200th anniversary of Cadbury’s, we’re also celebrating two centuries of giving back – investing in our communities and making a real difference.

“Carrying on the spirit of the Cadbury brothers is something we’re deeply proud of, as we continue to support amazing charities and projects that positively impact countless lives each year.”
