Bromsgrove Sporting started out in 2009 as a supporter’s consortium which planned to purchase the other local club, Bromsgrove Rovers. They wanted to get the team out of the hands of ownership and chairmanship Tom Herbert, who put it in administration.
However, the administrator preferred another potential buyer, forcing the consortium to create a squad to continue non-league football in Bromsgrove.

The next season, Sporting miraculously won the MFL Premier Divison within their first year. As a result, the club got a promotion to the Southern League Division One Central for season 2018/19. This is when the attendance started going upwards.
In 2019 they started attracting around 2,900 fans which is a lot compared to the 290 average spectators in 2016. It’s worth noting that their highest attendance was 3,219 against Grimsby Town in the FA Cup.
During their first year in the Southern League Division One Central, the team ended the season in 2nd place. After that, they achieved yet another promotion to the Southern League Premier Central Division following a successful play-off performance.
What Does the Future hold for Bromsgrove Sporting
During their first season in the Southern League Premier Central Division, Bromsgrove Sporting performed very well, ending up in 4th place. After that, the club went on to have several bad years. They finished in the 18th position twice and once as 17th on the table.
As a young club, Sporting showed a lot of potential and desire in a very short time. But, Bromsgrove Sporting must work a lot harder to return to their form from 2018 or 2019.
Only then might they have a chance to get a promotion to the National League. This is where a semi-professional club becomes a professional team.
If Bromsgrove Sporting shows ambition and desire, then they might even get to the EFL divisions. But, there’s a lot to do before the player, staff, and fans dream of such an achievement.
