BROMSGROVE RFC saw their seven-game winning run come to an end following a narrow 19-14 defeat against Banbury.

The Boars scored their only try courtesy of Tom Sadler while Will Harris kicked two penalties and Will Tanner added another as the visitors came away from Bodicote Park with a losing bonus point.

And the result means Bromsgrove sit second in the Regional 1 Midlands table, six points behind leaders Syston.

Banbury broke the deadlock on 14 minutes when Quinten Blythe touched down and Thomas Gray kicked the conversion.

However, the Boars responded four minutes later as Sadler dotted down to reduce the deficit to two points.

Bromsgrove then lost James Gunther to a yellow card while Banbury had both Simon Bailey and Grey sent to the sin bin in quick succession.

Banbury touched down again courtesy of Augustus Stapleton before Tanner kicked a penalty before the break as the Boars trailed by six points at the interval.

The visitors halved the deficit when Harris kicked a penalty early in the second half only for Charlie Cranley to touch down for Banbury’s third try soon after.

Another Harris penalty kept the Boars in the contest only for Bromsgrove to lose both Finn Haynes and Benjamin Tibbetts to the sin bin later in the half.

Bromsgrove are next in action against Syston on Saturday, December 7 with kick-off at 2.15pm at Finstall Park.
