ALVECHRUCH saw their winless run in the league stretch to six matches following a 5-3 defeat away at Barwell in an eight-goal thriller.

Church twice took the lead before the break courtesy of goals from Charlie Wragg and Tyrone Barnett at Kirkby Road.

However, Barwell struck four times in the space of 11 second-half minutes to leave church stunned as Daniele Reka netted a late consolation for the visitors.

The result means Alvechurch sit 17th in the Southern League Premier Central table, two points above the relegation zone.

James Fry’s side broke the deadlock on seven minutes when Wragg coolly finished past Will Highland from Joe Willis’s through ball.

Barwell equalised from the penalty spot on 27 minutes as veteran striker Leroy Lita finished confidently from 12-yards out after Church were penalised for holding in the box.

However, Alvechurch reclaimed the lead one minute before the break when Barnett tapped home Ammar Dyer’s low cross from the left from close range.

The home side drew level for a second time on 56 minutes as former Church man Tyrell Skeen-Hamilton saw his deflected effort trickle into the net.

And Barwell completed the turnaround on the hour mark when substitute Olly Brown-Hill fired a dipping low shot into the bottom right corner from 25-yards out.

The Canaries struck again four minutes later as Riley Moloney scrambled the ball home with Callum Sullivan unable to clear on the line.

And the home side all but sealed the points with their fourth goal in the space of 11 minutes when Deen Master placed a low shot into the bottom left corner.

Church scored a consolation goal four minutes into injury time when substitute Reka pounced on some miscommunication at the back to net his first goal for the club.

Alvechurch are next in action away at Leiston on Tuesday, November 12 with kick-off at 7.45pm at Victory Road.
