BROMSGROVE Rovers AFC bowed out of the Senior Cup following a 5-2 defeat against higher-division Wake Green Amateur, writes Neil Gordon.
Wake Green’s George Sturdy scored a 13-minute hat-trick before adding his fourth in the second half while Jordan Andrews also found the net for the visitors at Charford Road.
That came after Dan Jones and Alex Footman both struck for Rovers in frantic opening to the game which saw five goals scored in the opening 16 minutes.
Bromsgrove lost for the first time in seven games in all competitions as Rovers exited the competition at the first hurdle.
A quickfire brace from Sturdy inside the opening six minutes put Wake Green into a two-goal lead before Jones halved the deficit for Rovers.
Sturdy completed his hat-trick moments later before Footman reduced the deficit once again for the home side with only 16 minutes on the clock.
However, Andrews and Sturdy both scored after the break to take the game out of Rovers’ reach and deny the home side a place in the second round.
Bromsgrove return to league action against Match of The Day FC on Saturday, November 2 with kick-off at 2.30pm and admission free.
