TRIBUTES have poured in for a long-serving stalwart of the Scouts movement in Worcestershire and further afield after her passing.

Scouts Bromsgrove have shared a heartfelt tribute to Ann Clark, a lead volunteer across the three counties of Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire who recently passed away on October 20 this year aged 80.

Ann Clark was described as a ‘pillar of our scouting community’ for over 40 years.

Ann had held many voluntary roles over her time including being the lead volunteer in Stourport, Tenbury and Witley.

She was praised for ‘always looking to welcome and support new volunteers’, delivering countless training courses over the years to hundreds of newcomers.

As a member of County Team, Ann acted as the lead for the Beaver Scout and Cub Scout sections, took part in visits abroad and supported The Queen’s Scout Award.

Scouts Bromsgrove also shared heartwarming memories of Ann from their annual ‘Operation Bald Eagle’ weekend – a challenge camp for Scout patrols from Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire.

For many years Ann was in charge of the event, coordinating volunteers to ensure it was the best event possible year after year. In 2012, then chief scout Bear Grylls popped into the event by helicopter to meet 300 Scouts including Ann.

A spokesperson for the group added: “Ann was a much loved and respected Scouting volunteer.

“Her support and guidance touched the lives of so many young people and adult volunteers through the events that she ran, the advice she gave and the training that she delivered.

“We send our heartfelt thoughts to Ann’s family at this time.”

After Scouts Bromsgrove shared their tribute on social media, heartfelt messages from the community poured in.

One user wrote: “Oh bless her – Ann was amazing, a true credit to Scouting.”

Other’s described her as a ‘wonderful woman’ and a ‘very supportive trainer’ who ‘touched the lives of so many.’
