THREE stunning poppy displays have been installed in Catshill ahead of this year’s Remembrance commemorations.
The organisers have said the project, which began in February, has exceeded all expectations.
The aim was to create pieces which could evolve and continue throughout the year, fostering a sense of unity in the village.
The focus was placed on poppies and, over the past few months, volunteers from various groups have worked tirelessly. These included women from Christ Church and Catshill’s Knit and Natter.
Some knitters, even those who cannot always get out, contributed from home, creating more than 6,000 knitted poppies.
Scouts from the 6th Bromsgrove group, Catshill Games Hub, and local schools also joined in. They crafted poppies from recycled materials like bottle bottoms and garden canes.
The project culminated in three individual installations throughout the village.

One is a dramatic cascade of poppies which flows from the tower of Christ Church. The second is a beautifully illuminated poppy wall on display at Catshill Village Hall. And the third is a powerful tribute to fallen soldiers and animals includes a 6ft sculpture of a soldier and his dog at the Catshill Memorial.

All installations will be viewable for the next month.
Organisers are thrilled with the level of community involvement.
One said: “We’re incredibly proud of how this project has brought people together.
“Everyone has really embraced it.”
Looking ahead, the team is already planning the next community project, which they hope will serve as a central point for the village throughout the Christmas period.
