PAUL Smith is looking forward to another cup tie as Bromsgrove Sporting travel to Chasetown in the FA Trophy this weekend.
Sporting left it late to beat local rivals Droitwich Spa 3-1 at the King George Playing Fields in midweek and advance in the Worcestershire Senior Cup.
That came after the Rouslers lost 2-1 at National League South side Chelmsford City to exit the FA Cup at the Third Round Qualifying Stage.
And Smith is expecting another tough test in a different cup competition this weekend.
Smith said: “I love a trophy, it’s a fantastic cup competition, the draw could have been kinder, Chasetown are one of my favourite side’s at Step Four, they’re a really strong group.
“It’s going to be a tough task for us but if we put in a good performance, it’ll be good enough to win the game.”
Against Droitwich, Kieran Cook’s 86th minute goal and Shaquille Leachman-Whittingham’s injury time strike eventually helped Sporting past their Step Six opponents with Sporting plying their trade three levels higher.
Bromsgrove survived a scare after Perry Moss cancelled out Theo Robinson’s early opener before putting the game to bed with two late goals.
This weekend’s opponents Chasetown currently sit 11th in the Northern Premier League West division – one level below Sporting.
Bromsgrove make the trip to Chasetown on Saturday, October 5 with kick-off at 3pm at the Scholars Ground.
