RUBERY’S Omniplex Cinema will be closed until Friday (September 6) for refurbishment works.
The picture house, which became Omniplex following a takeover in December 2023, closed yesterday (Monday, September 2) and is scheduled to re-open at 2pm on Friday (September 6).
An email sent to cinema members shared details of the closure and images of what the updated cinema will look like ‘in a few months’.
Images show updated decor throughout the lobby including a new ticket desk, food and drink offerings and improved seating within screens. A new MAXX screen is also mooted.
Omniplex Cinema Group purchased the Rubery cinema from Empire in December 2023.
The Irish firm invested more than £22 million to reignite cinema locations in Birmingham, Ipswich, Sutton, Clydebank, and High Wycombe after Empire Cinemas announced its collapse into administration earlier in 2023.
