Local canal society seeking new treasurer and secretary ahead of annual meeting

DROITWICH’S canal society are looking for a new treasurer and secretary as its prepares for its latest annual general meeting in September.

Worcester Birmingham and Droitwich Canal Society is inviting all with in an interest in its activities to join them from 7.45pm on Tuesday, September 3 at the Weighbridge Inn Pub, Alvechurch.

The first half of the evening will be a review of the society’s activities for the last 12 months. The meeting will also be an opportunity to help direct the society for the coming year before a short talk is held.

Danny Spike will host the talk ‘A Trip to the Bridgewater – Taunton canal and the Grand Western Canal 2024’.

The society currently has vacancies so organisers are asking those interested to consider if they can help steer the society.

Current treasurer, Trevor Hyde, intends to stand down at the meeting due to illness and the society are still seeking a chairman.




The meeting will be held in the meeting room behind The Wheighbridge Inn. Everyone, including non-members are welcome to attend. Admission is free. Hot drinks and biscuits will be served for a small fee of 50p.
