THE SNAKE which was spotted in Northfield’s Ley Hill Park earlier this month has been found safe and well and captured.
The slippery fugitive was first seen almost fortnight ago and warnings were issued to dog walkers.
Despite several sightings and searches in a bid to catch it, the snake – thought to be a royal python or boa constrictor – remained at large.
Concerns were expressed on social media – both about the creature impacting local native wildlife and being a danger and because of fears for its wellbeing.
But, in an update on Facebook, The Friends of Ley Hill Park provided news of the most positive outcome everyone could have hoped for – the group confirmed it had been captured and was now enjoying life in its new home.
We reported on the SSSssssstory on August 9 and it even made it into the national press with one newspaper billing it ‘the Brummie Boa’.
