Staff from four Worcestershire businesses raise money for Action Medical Research

FOUR Worcestershire business professionals will undertake the grueling triathlon-style adventure, ‘Race the Sun’, in the Lake District, in aid of Action Medical Research.

Team Unity comprises; Matt Nicol Owner Nicol & Co, Adam Smith Director at Financial Advice Centre Limited, Ben Wood Co-Founder Cab Studios and Piers Thompson Director, GJS – The House Surveyors.

The new off-road route will push them to their limits.

Setting off at sunrise, they will embark on an 18-mile off-road, mixed terrain bike ride.

They will then commence an 11-mile round trip, including a climb to the summit of Latrigg and will complete the final leg with a 2-mile canoe race in the Lake District’s third largest lake.

This is a true team contest, and in addition to the physical challenge, they have set themselves a £4k target to achieve. Every pound raised goes to support Action Medical Research.

Action Medical Research has been funding medical breakthroughs for over 70 years.

Early research by the charity helped to develop the first oral polio vaccine in the UK, later they developed the ultrasound technology in pregnancy and tested the rubella vaccine, alongside successful campaigns to reduce the risk of still birth.

They are currently funding projects including research into asthma, prematurity, epilepsy, cerebral palsy, long Covid and leukemia to name a few.
