BROMSGROVE Rovers AFC secured an impressive league double over North Solihull with a 2-0 victory while stretching their unbeaten run to nine matches, writes Neil Gordon.
Goals from Jake Evans and Keian Savage coupled to ‘keeper George Harris’ heroics saw Rovers deservedly collect all three points at Coleshill Road.
The result means Bromsgrove move up to fourth in the Birmingham and District League Division Three table just two points off third place with three games remaining.
Evans gave Bromsgrove an early lead when he pounced on a rebound from the home ’keeper during the opening exchanges.
Rover’s ‘keeper Harris then pulled off a magnificent save with the hosts almost certain to equalise on the stroke of half-time.
And Savage sealed victory when he found the net after creating space for himself late in the second-half.
The match also saw Ryan Moore continuing his return from long-term injury.
Rovers Assistant Kristian Rock was delighted with the win as the team battled against strong opponents and poor weather.
Bromsgrove welcome Nechells Athletic to South Bromsgrove High School, Charford Road on Saturday, April 13 with the Greens’ hoping to beat the last team they suffered a league defeat against back in October.
Rock said: “We are looking forward to seeing our supporters backing the team at our final home game as we go for victory and third place.”
The game kicks off at 2:30pm with free admission.
