THE BISHOP of Worcester has voiced his support for Catherine, Princess of Wales, after she revealed she has been battling cancer and is in the early stages of receiving chemotherapy treatment.

The Princess revealed in a video last Friday her condition was discovered following her major abdominal surgery, which took place in London in January.

Her recorded statement saw the 42-year-old thank those who had sent in messages of support and understanding while she had been recovering from surgery.

She also reassured the public she was well and getting stronger every day.

She added: “This of course came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family.

“Having William by my side is a great source of comfort and reassurance to me, as is the love, support and kindness that has been shown by so many of you.

“It means so much to us both.”

The Princess said for now she must focus on making a full recovery but added she was looking forward to being back at work when able.

And she finished her message urging those suffering from cancer to ‘not lose faith or hope.’

The news comes just over a month after King Charles also announced he was battling cancer.

Buckingham Palace said in a statement: “His Majesty is ‘so proud of Catherine for her courage in speaking as she did.

“Following their time in hospital together, HM has ‘remained in the closest contact with his beloved daughter-in-law throughout the past weeks.’

“Both Their Majesties ‘will continue to offer their love and support to the whole family through this difficult time.”

Bishop of Worcester, John Inge, took to social media to share his support for the Princess.

A prayer shared on his X (formerly Twitter) page prayed for the continued recovery of the Princess of Wales, her husband and their family.
