Barnt Green Choral Society Spring concert to usher in new season

Bromsgrove Editorial 7th Mar, 2024   0

A NIGHT of classical music to celebrate the arrival of spring will be performed by Barnt Green Choral Society at 7.30pm next Saturday, March 16.

The group’s Annual Spring Concert at North Bromsgrove High School will feature works by legendary composers Bach and Mozart within the programme.

The first half starts with Bach’s ‘Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring’, followed by his ‘Air from Suite No 3 in D’ and is rounded off with his ‘Cantata No 80 – Eine Feste Burg’.

After the interval, the second half of the programme is devoted to Mozart’s ‘Requiem in D Minor’.

Four soloists feature with the choir – David Coulson (baritone), Ed Harrison (tenor), Hope Page (mezzo-soprano) and Jennifer Walker (soprano). The society said David and Jennifer were well-known to Bromsgrove audiences.

There will be a 27-piece orchestra supporting the choir and the soloists.

Tickets, including a glass of wine or a soft drink in the interval, are £15 each (under 16s are free).

They are available by any member of the society, on the door or by visiting ticketsource.co.uk/ and searching for ‘Barnt Green Choral Society’.
