BOOKWORMS in Bromsgrove and Droitwich can take part in a unique outdoor adventure, dressed as their favourite literary characters.
S4F (Shooting 4 Fun), in Hanbury, is running a special one-off laser tag event on March 9 in celebration of World Book Day.
‘Tales and Targets’ will follow the customary celebration of World Book Day in schools nationwide, offering children the chance to once again put on their favourite book character costumes.
Entry to the event is via a personalised Wonka golden ticket and on arrival children will walk through the ‘Once Upon a Time’ gateway and be greeted by Willy Wonka himself (aka Mark Treverton, owner of S4F).
A briefing session will follow, before they parade to the ‘Storybook Forest’ gaming zone for 90-minutes’ fun, playing three games of laser tag.
Extra fun will include the challenge of identifying book titles through displays showcasing brief quotes from well-known authors.
Can the children achieve a perfect score of 10 and demonstrate their true bookworm prowess?
Finally, a book swap will add a communal element to the day, allowing young readers the opportunity to discover a new book when they swap one of theirs. Any books left after the event ends will be donated to a local school.
Mark said: “We know many parents spend a long time organising a costume for their child to wear on World Book Day at school.
“We thought both parents and their children would love the chance for that costume to be worn again – this provided the inspiration for ‘Tales and Targets’.
“While our laser tag birthday parties are very popular, we understand not everyone can cover the cost of hosting a group of children for a birthday celebration.
“This special event enables parents to pay solely for their child and we’ll organise the participating children into groups to ensure everyone enjoys a fantastic time.”
Pre-booking is essential.
A golden entry ticket costs £22 per child.
Group tickets for four children are priced at £65 when booked together.
