VISIT Worcestershire is teaming up with West Midlands Railway to encourage tourism to the county’s towns through rail travel.

Worcestershire’s official tourism organisation has partnered with the rail operator to offer travel itinerary’s, visitor information and seasonal guides through marketing activity and promotion.

The plans hope to encourage people throughout the West Midlands to travel to some of the 13 stations accessible throughout the county.

Visit Worcestershire hopes to welcome visitors looking to experience the J.R.R Tolkien inspired streets of Great Malvern, the historic city of Worcester and the independent culinary experience of Bromsgrove’s dining scene.

Councillor Marc Bayliss, cabinet member for economy, infrastructure and skills at Worcestershire County Council, said: “This is another fantastic collaboration to encourage visitors to utilise our transport network and connectivity.

“Not only increasing Worcestershire’s profile of a visitor destination but encouraging more sustainable travel choices.”

Passengers travelling on West Midlands Railway to destinations in Worcestershire will have access to the rail operators brand new fleet of class 196 trains.

Laura Donnelly, head of sales and marketing at West Midlands Railway, said: “We are committed to supporting tourism in the region which is why we are collaborating with Visit Worcestershire.

“The partnership will help us connect passengers with the county, boosting leisure and hospitality in Worcestershire and the West Midlands.”
