A BROMSGROVE choir’s ‘flashmob’ performance of legendary Christmas hit ‘Fairytale of New York’ at Webbs Garden Centre in Wychbold has gone viral, amassing more than 2.4million views on Facebook.

The i-sing choir, which only formed in September, delighted shoppers with the classic by The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl with many, along with Webbs’ staff joining in.

The song was particularly poignant after the death of The Pogues’ lead singer Shane MacGowan who died on November 30.

Helen Jones, i-sing choir’s director, said; “The response to the video has been overwhelming- we can’t believe it.

“The video is currently sat at over 2.4million views and is still climbing.

“We love to spread some Christmas cheer, and performing ‘Fairytale of New York’ this year was very special, as we felt it important to pay homage to the late Shane MacGowan.

“It was also some of our members’ first experience of a flashmob, as our new Bromsgrove and Pershore choirs (which only started in September) were able to take part and I think it’s safe to say they all thoroughly enjoyed it.”
