A GROUP of friends raised £1,827 for Motor Neurone Disease (MND) after taking part in a six-mile stroll in memory of Jan Pearsall.
Jan died six months after being diagnosed with MND so the group wanted to raise funds for the charity which is researching into treatments and cures.
The walk, held on a Sunday morning a couple of months ago, took participants from Bromsgrove’s Princess of Wales Community Hospital to Stoke Works and onto Wychbold Sports and Social Club, stopping at several pubs on the way.
Les Colley, who organised the walk, first met up with Jan Pearsall when she took part in walks with him and others as part of his recovery after he had become ill. Then on Saturday the group presented the cash to the charity at Wychbold Sports and Social Club.
Les said: “MND is such a cruel and devastating disease – it took away Jan’s power of speech and one of the things she most enjoyed was a good chat to people.
“The illness meant she was unable to do that.”
