Celebration time as 'Fat Theo' to hold charity fund-raiser at his Bromsgrove pub

BROMSGROVE’S Anthony Theophanous will be celebrating his tenancy at Sidemoor’s Duke of York pub while raising cash for a cause close to his heart with a ‘Meet the New Gaffer’ launch night next Friday.

Anthony, known as ‘Fat Theo’, became the manager of Sidemoor’s Duke of York pub in April, and he was handed the tenancy role on Monday.

The three-hour event will get under way at 7pm and will have 20 per cent off all draught beers and soft drinks as well as free food, provided by Pronto Pizza.

A charity raffle will raise cash for the Natalie Kate Moss Trust, which works to help prevent brain haemorrhages from happening and funds ground-breaking research to treat them.

Anthony has previously suffered a brain haemorrhage that left him unable to work and suffering from amnesia, and while looking for activities to help him rebuild pathways in his brain he came across the Ultra Comedy course on social media.

This led him on a path which eventually saw him open ‘Fat Theo’s Comedy Club’ in Redditch last summer, and the venue will be reopening at the Duke of York’s second bar area in November.
