Bromsgrove Editorial 3rd Sep, 2023   0

THE BIGGEST ever Blackwell Music Festival – with an impressive line-up of seven bands – will take place next Saturday, September 9.

Among the acts will be Indigo Kid, The Strands, The Kazoos, The Bizz, Lucas D and the Groove Ghetto, The Precursors, and the well-respected local outfit The Weekend Anthems Band (formerly Killerstream).

The event also claims to have the cheapest festival bar, as well as a string of top food outlets and a children’s zone, with circus skills, glitter face paints, a traditional bouncy castle and much more.

The event is aimed at providing activities for the young and young at heart.

One of the festival organisers Emma Westwood said ‘there should be something for absolutely everyone.

“We’ve got the biggest ever line up with seven excellent bands, so there should be something to get everybody up on their feet and dancing.

“And we’ve introduced much more for the youngsters.”

Among the first to get their tickets were the Keeley family from Blackwell who won their passes after Ella was drawn out at the village’s popular summer fair.

She said she was particularly looking forward to the music festival because it was shortly after her eighth birthday and would be a chance for a second celebration.

Mum Laura said: “We were already planning to go.

“We’d wanted to go the last two years but we haven’t been able to, so we’re really excited to be able go this year.”

Dad Tom said the festival was an important occasion for the village.

“These community events really make Blackwell what it is. One of the things that we loved when we moved here was all the community stuff.”

A few tickets are still available from Blackwell Village Store or via blackwellfestival.org.uk.

Advance tickets are £12 for adults, £6 for under-16s with under fives free.

Any remaining tickets will be £17 for adults and £10 for under-16s on the gate.
