STAFF and students at South Bromsgrove High School are celebrating their recent Ofsted inspection outcome.
Inspectors visited the school on April 18 and 19 and judged the school to be ‘good’ overall with the leadership and management, the sixth-form and personal development all deemed to be ‘outstanding’.
Headteacher Chris Smith said he was delighted with the inspection outcome.
“This is a brilliant achievement within the context of the more challenging Ofsted framework that was introduced in 2019.
“I am very pleased that inspectors recognised many of the aspects that make ‘South’ a special place to learn and work.
“These include our high aspirations, our focus on personal development and the quality of relationships between students and staff.”
The sixth-form was recognised as ‘Outstanding’ both for the quality of teaching and learning and the support sixth-form students give to wider areas of school life.
This includes the House System, supporting younger students with reading and assisting in lessons.
One sixth-form student told inspectors, they did this ‘to give something back to the school’.
Mr Smith added: “It is satisfying to see that the priority we give to personal development was recognised, particularly the significantly high participation in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme, our annual Eisteddfod competition and the support in place for students’ wellbeing’.”
Alyson Jewson, Chair of the Board of Trustees, said: “I congratulate all of the students and staff on their hard work in achieving this excellent report.
“I would also like to thank parents and carers for their ongoing support of the school.”
