THE LAST steam locomotive to work on the London underground is set to work its way through both Bromsgrove and Droitwich tomorrow (Saturday).
Class 0-6-0 locomotive number 7752 will be paired with sister tank engine number 9600 as they work the Pannier Rambler tour around the Midlands.
Ben Mason of Vintage Trains told The Standard: “7752 was the last steam engine on the London underground, working an engineers train on June 6, 1971.
“It has been painted in London Transport red and has been renumbered to L94 as part of the underground’s 150th anniversary celebrations.”
The tour passes through Droitwich twice, at 2.43pm and again at 5.47pm, and is due to arrive in Bromsgrove goods loop at 6.11pm before departing at 7.03pm.
