BROMSGROVE will play host to a Chrysanthemum competition which is taking place on Thursday (September 17).
The event, organised by the Shirley Chrysanthemum Society, is now in its 72nd year and there are expected to be more than 100 blooms on show.
The group’s treasurer John Rogers said: “We always get a really good turn-out and we are expecting to get some more dynamic displays this year.”
Anyone wanting to go along can speak to members of the society in the morning and they can have a closer look at the varieties after about 2pm when judging has taken place.
It is being held at Burcot Garden Centre, Alcester Road.
This year there are several categories which are open to all growers, whether they are members of the society or not.
Entries close on Tuesday (September 15) except for two classes which can be entered on the day – those small classes are the ones of one vase of any type with either three or five blooms.
For more information about the event and the Shirley Chrysanthemum Society can call John on 01527 544220.
Anyone wanting a schedule should call Ian Thornton on 01902 840581.
