Bromsgrove Blue Cross hosts tea party, walk and car boot

ANIMAL-LOVERS are being urged to ‘paws’ for a cup of tea at the Bromsgrove Blue Cross tomorrow (Saturday) when the charity hosts its popular tea party and sponsored dog walk.

Staff have been baking up some tasty cakes all week ready for the event, which takes place at the centre in Wildmoor Lane between 10am and 3pm.

Visitors will be able to enjoy a nice hot drink and a piece of cake for a small donation, with all the cash going towards the care of the homeless cats and dogs at the centre.

There will also be games, tombolas and stalls selling animal-related goodies.

Neil Edwards, the manager of Bromsgrove’s Blue Cross, said: “There’s always time for a nice cuppa, so this really is a very easy way to help animals in need.

“Every tea and slice of cake we sell will help Blue Cross care for even more poorly and homeless pets.

“We’d love to see as many people as possible on the day.”

For more energetic residents, there will also be a sponsored dog walk where visitors can choose one of two routes on offer.

There is a 4.5-mile route for those wanting more of a challenge and a shorter mile-long stroll for people with disabilities and those with younger children. Sponsorship forms can be collected from the centre or walkers can pay £5 on the day.

All dogs taking part will receive a certificate, rosette and goodie bag.

Email [email protected] or call the centre on 0300 777 1460 for more on the event.

Alternatively, to keep up with the centre’s news, join the Bromsgrove Blue Cross group on Facebook.

Those wanting to hold their own tea parties to raise funds for the Blue Cross can log onto www.bluecross.org.uk/teaparty where free host packs and plenty of great recipe ideas can be downloaded.

Today (Saturday), is also the charity’s first fortnightly car boot sale of the year at the Wildmoor Lane Centre.

They run until August, with the next one taking place next Saturday (May 24).

Those wanting to sell pay £5 per car or £10 per van or trailer.
