THERE will be a new name on the cup this year after Wyre Piddle triumphed in the pétanque event at the Wychavon Parish Games.
The event, sponsored by Parsonson Planning Consultancy, was held on Evesham Petanque Club’s piste on Waterside as 15 Parishes took part.
Each Parish had at least two contests as Sedgeberrow, North and Middle Littleton, Wyre Piddle and Evesham Bengeworth progressed to the semi-finals.
And Wyre Piddle defeated North and Middle Littleton to win the title for the first time in a thrilling final.
Ashton-under-Hill then beat Honeybourne to take third place with Evesham Bengeworth and Sedgeberrow tied for fifth place whilst Hill and Moor and Wick shared seventh place.
Other Parishes that took part were: Harvington, Inkberrow, Broadway, Pebworth, Badsey, Fladbury and Bretforton.
The Games take a break until Sunday, August 21 and will resume with the bowls event which takes place in Pershore, sponsored by Pershore Bowls Centre.
