KEENAN MEAKIN-RICHARDS has departed Bromsgrove Sporting for fellow Midland League Premier Division outfit Sporting Khalsa.
After joining from Lichfield City at the start of last season, the 28-year-old made 33 appearances for the Rouslers to help guide them to Division One glory as well as the semi-finals of the FA Vase.
However, the former Hednesford Town, Stafford Rangers, Halesowen Town and Bedworth United midfielder has now decided to make the switch to Willenhall-based Khalsa.
With Ahmed Ali, Robbie Bunn, Liam Spink, Joe Ward and Liam Spink all fighting for a place in the centre of the park, boss Smith told the Standard Meakin-Richards wanted to have more chance of guaranteed first-team football elsewhere.
“Keenan has got himself to a great level of fitness this pre-season and has worked tremendously hard to get there,” he said.
“He has done very well in the pre-season friendlies but he feels the competition for places is fierce.
“Khalsa have come in for him and made him an offer which Keenan has accepted.
“He did tremendously well for us last year and it is a shame to lose him but he goes with our blessing and we wish him all the best.”
In other transfer news, promising defender Ben Birch is expected to sign registration forms after today’s (Saturday) friendly against Redditch United.
