Sporting aiming to get promotion bid back on track

Bromsgrove Editorial 30th Jan, 2015 Updated: 17th Oct, 2016   0

SECOND placed Bromsgrove Sporting will be looking to get their promotion bid back on track with victory at Stafford Town tomorrow (Saturday).

Last week’s 3-3 draw at Lichfield City was the second successive week the Rouslers have failed to claim all three points in the Midland Football League Division One.

Prior to their back-to-back draws, Sporting were on a run of seven straight victories and appeared to be on course to usurp Highgate United at the top of the table.

The league leaders currently hold a seven point lead over Bromsgrove, which manager Paul Smith will be determined to try and close this weekend.

Highgate face a potentially difficult home clash against third placed Bolehall Swifts, while Sporting will be hoping to get the job done against their Stafforshire opponents, who sit 15th in the table.

Town have shown they are capable of finding the back of the net against any side in the league, but they have also conceded more than 50 goals this season, which Bromsgrove’s potent duo Sean Brain and Chris Conway will be looking to increase.
