INSIDE VIEW - Craig Jones' Bromsgrove Sporting column

Bromsgrove Editorial 19th Apr, 2018   0

Bromsgrove Sporting skipper Craig Jones writes for The Standard in his weekly column and reflects upon a busy week, a cup final and the title charge.

TEN points in a week!

Could you imagine professional footballers playing four games in seven days?

The lads have done this on top of their normal jobs, for a tiny fraction of what our ‘top stars’ earn and for the love of the game and our club.

They deserve every praise given to them and more.

Special mention must go to Cowls for becoming Sporting’s all time top goal scorer.

I’ve played with a lot of strikers in my time at the Vic and Cowls is right up there.

His finishing and especially his work rate is frightening.

A lot has been said about certain off the field things that have gone on at Bromsgrove this season and I don’t really want to add any more on that matter.

What’s been most important is the reaction on the pitch.

Thankfully we’ve managed to remain focused and perform well more often than not.

The foundations were laid earlier in the season, but the current management team deserve a lot of credit.

Having said this, the job isn’t done.

We didn’t start this season wanting to gain promotion in second place.

We want to win this league and we aren’t there yet.

Before we continue going about that aim we’ve got a cup final today (Thursday) – our first chance to get some silverware on the board against what will be a very competitive Lye team.

Hopefully we can get the win and keep this positive momentum rolling into a huge game at Loughborough on Saturday.

I’m sure we’ll see plenty of our fantastic supporters at both.
