Bromsgrove Sporting skipper Craig Jones writes for The Standard in his weekly column and reflects upon a positive Easter Bank Holiday weekend.
FIRSTLY I’d just like to put on record the appreciation of all the lads for the unbelievable effort from our ground-staff and helpers for getting the game against Shepshed on.
Secondly, thanks to all the fans who packed the Vic on Saturday and those that travelled in great numbers over to Coleshill on Monday, it really did feel like a home game.
Hopefully we matched your performance off the pitch on the pitch.
Shepshed was a big game.
It was important to continue our good form and to right a wrong from earlier in the season where we were well beaten at their place.
Thankfully we did both and kept another clean sheet in the process, setting us up nicely for an equally big game for similar reasons at Coleshill.
The first half was one of the best I’ve been involved in since my debut all those years ago.
We settled after a nervy start and then kicked on, scoring some really good goals whilst remaining solid.
It seems harsh to single out anyone as everybody did their job but I thought our central midfield two and front two caused them all sorts of problems.
It was disappointing to concede the late goals as I was desperate for another clean sheet but the three points were massive.
Huge credit must go to the management team who’ve really steadied the ship after a turbulent time.
Bren, Andy and Kev have been top drawer.
Nothing is won yet.
We will stay grounded and push on now to try and finish the job.
We want a league title.
