INSIDE VIEW - Craig Jones' Bromsgrove Sporting column

Bromsgrove Editorial 15th Nov, 2018   0

Bromsgrove Sporting skipper Craig Jones writes for The Standard in his weekly column, reflecting on Jason Cowley’s 100th appearance, the result over North Leigh, the fans and this weekend’s game against Aylesbury.

I WOULD like to start this week’s column with two massive congratulations!

Firstly, to Jack (Wilson) who has become dad for the first time.

Baby Steel Arm is doing well and will no doubt be blessed with her father’s strength.

Secondly, to Cowls on reaching 100 games for Bromsgrove, joining a small group of players.

Here’s to the next 100!

Saturday we showed both parts of our game.

We scored some excellent goals through some real quality football and weathered a bit of a storm early on in the second half when North Leigh came on strong, forcing us to tighten gaps, manage the game and defend as a unit for a period.

I thought we were good value for our 5-1 victory, although I was personally annoyed at conceding.

It’s great to see Cowls and Gregs firing on all cylinders, when they play games together they pretty much always score goals.

Long may it continue.

Many people’s pick of the goals Saturday came from Heathy, a 25 yard, left footed rocket.

This underlines the quality in the squad, with Jake, Cress and Ash all coming off the bench and making a real positive impact.

Saturday we are back at home and will be looking to keep this little run going.

With the international break, meaning no top flight or Championship games, why not bring a pal and spend the afternoon watching real world blokes giving their all for their non-league team.

Pies, pints and points for Bromsgrove sounds like the perfect Saturday.
