INSIDE VIEW - Craig Jones' Bromsgrove Sporting column

Bromsgrove Editorial 27th Sep, 2018   0

Bromsgrove Sporting skipper Craig Jones writes for the Standard in his weekly column, reflecting on the 0-0 draw at Aylesbury and this weekend’s FA Trophy clash against Corby Town.

SATURDAY was a different test for us as a team.

A long away trip in difficult conditions, a bobbly pitch and a hard-working team who in the end were happy with their point.

It’s important when we have days where we aren’t at our best – and there will be days like this – we do our best not to lose the game.

We defended solidly as a team to keep another clean sheet and hopefully at the end of the season it will be an important point.

This week sees another test with us making our debut in the FA Trophy against a very good team in Corby.

They’ve started the season really well and had a great result against Alvechurch last week so will be flying.

We expect a really tough game but although we respect our opponents we certainly don’t fear them.

We know there’s enough quality in our dressing room to get the job done providing we keep our work rate as high as it has been.

With it being our first appearance in the competition and us having good runs in the FA Vase over the last two years, it would be great if we could match that and bring the whole town together again for a good old cup run.

Those Vase games were memorable, especially for the crowds we drew in, and hopefully there will be plenty of our loyal faithful present Saturday making their voices heard.
