Hat-trick for Halpin as Colts cruise

CIERAN Halpin had a debut to remember as his hat-trick inspired Santiago U16 Colts to a stunning 5-1 victory over Coleshill Town.

Remy Gordan and Sean McLoughlin also got on the scoresheet as Santiago ended the visitors’ unbeaten streak.

Jayden John and Harry Neal also netted three times as U13 Allstars defeated Solihull Moors 4-1 and U12 Lions saw off Chelmsley Colts with a 5-2 win.

However, they could not match the goal-scoring-exploits of Joe Wathen who hit five in U13 Superstars’ thrilling 7-3 victory over Knowle Juniors.

Their win, which was also aided by a brace from Jordan Price, was made more impressive by the fact they only had ten players available to face the previously unbeaten Juniors.

After going a goal down, U15 Colts put in a commanding performance to beat Bournville 3-2 and extend their winning sequence to five games. Alex Huntley received most of the plaudits following his hat-trick, but it was Charlie Linden who took home the match ball after a brilliant display in between the sticks.

Elsewhere, James Hughes scored twice for U14 Lions as they edged Shamrocks 2-0, while U14 Knights were held to a 1-1 draw by Bournville and U12 Crusaders were hammered 10-3 by visitors Harborne Youth.

There was also disappointment for U18 Lickey as their perfect start to the season came to an end when Castle Bromwich United struck with eight minutes remaining.
