FOOTBALL - Alvechurch hammered at Coalville

Bromsgrove Editorial 15th Aug, 2022   0

ALVECHURCH suffered a 4-1 defeat away at Coalville Town despite taking an early lead against the Southern League Premier Central pacesetters who scored four second-half goals.

Church led through Tyrell Skeen-Hamilton’s opener on 10 minutes after the striker made a great run before producing a clinical finish.

However, despite holding onto their lead at the break, Coalville eventually drew level on 52 minutes when Ashley Chambers scored from the penalty spot.

And the Leicestershire club quickly turned the game around when Luke Shaw netted on 54 minutes when he pounced on a slip by Ashley Carter.

Another Church error allowed Shaw to grab his second of the game on 64 minutes before Thomas McGlinchey completed the scoring three minutes to inflict a heavy defeat on Ian Long’s side.

Alvechurch are back in action against local rivals Bromsgrove Sporting tomorrow night (Tuesday, August 16) with kick-off at 7.45pm at the Victoria Ground.
