ALVECHURCH FC were beaten 2-1 by Peterborough Sports on Tuesday night as their season came to an end in the play-off semi-finals.
Church conceded twice in the space of seven minutes at the start of the second half as Ryan Fryatt and Joshua McCammon struck only for Nick Clayton-Phillips to halve the deficit at the Bee Arena.
However, the visitors spurned two golden chances to equalise in injury time as Danny Waldron was denied by a stunning save from Sports goalkeeper Peter Crook at the death.
Alvechurch completed a league double over Peterborough in the regular season, winning 3-1 at home in December after an impressive 1-0 away victory in November.
Ian Long’s side secured an unlikely play-off place on the final day of the season last weekend.
