REDDITCH United Cross recovered from conceding an early goal to overcome VKL United 5-1 in the Redditch & South Warwickshire Combination.

Ollie Pledger converted Dan Hill’s corner to put VKL ahead but they missed chances to increase their lead and they were fully punished as Richard Lane scored a hat-trick and James Rossiter and Ryan Prosser also netted to clinch a win which lifts Cross into eighth spot.

Adam Blake netted a brace and Adam Davies and Connor Poole were also on the scoresheet as South Redditch bagged their first win of the campaign with a 4-3 success against Beoley Village, for whom Sean Meek (2) and Connor Farrell were on the mark.

Sean Parish struck twice to guide AFC Thomas Brothers to a 2-1 home win over Headless Cross Lions in the top of the table clash.

The home side dominated the first half and led 2-0 at the break but Ant McNally reduced the deficit in the second half and made the hosts sweat for a win which leaves them unbeaten at the summit.

Wythall Lions moved into fourth place with a thumping 8-2 victory over Frankley United in which Tom Williams and Jack Ward both scored hat-tricks and Jack Wilson and Jake Clarke also found the net for the home side.

Both AFC Windmill and Redditch Town bagged their first point of the season in a 3-3 draw.

In-form Andy Seager scored twice for Windmill and Hallam Bird also struck but Ashley Roland’s brace and a Chris Burford goal earned Town a point.
