Five more players agree terms to stay at Bromsgrove Sporting but Cowley's future remains uncertain

BOSS Brendan Kelly has been boosted by the news five more of last season’s Midland League Premier Division winning squad have verbally agreed to stay at Bromsgrove Sporting.

Goalkeeper Reece Francis, fan-favourite and full-back Aaron Roberts, central defender Guy Clark as well as midfielders Aaron Williams and Harry Harris have all pledged their allegiance to the Rouslers.

More players are expected to agree terms with Kelly revealing none of the title-winning team had expressed a desire to leave ahead of Sporting’s Southern League East berth.

However, the future of Sporting’s all-time leading goalscorer Jason Cowley remains up in the air after Kelly confirmed another National League North club had expressed interest in the 22-year-old forward.

Cowley was offered terms by Kelly on May 14 but is yet to get back to the Sporting boss who understands his star man does want to test himself at a higher level.

“We are not going to pressure Jason into making a decision because we would love to keep him,” said Kelly.

“It’s a case of we are going to have to be patient as he has attracted more interest but if he wants to move on we would not want to stand in his way.

“I know he wants to test himself at a higher level and if he goes I have some potential targets in mind.

“If Jason did move on we would have to act fast to bring in a replacement.”
