GLASSES rather bats were being raised by members of Bromsgrove Cricket Club as they toasted another successful season at their annual awards evening.
The special event was held at The Grafton Manor Hotel and saw a number of players receive prizes for their contribution this year.
They also reflected on the season, which saw the Sunday 1st XI win the Worcestershire Sunday League for a third straight year, the Saturday 4th XI clinch its division of the Worcester County League and the club reach the final of the inaugural County T20 Cup at New Road.
Among the prize winners were Jake Harding who captured the Ken Bayliss Award, which celebrates the club’s best up and coming youngster, and Adam Jones, who was presented with the prestigious Tom Abel Award. This credits the play for the most outstanding performance to win a match and comes after Jones’ innings of 78 which enabled the club to win the Semi Final of the County T20 Cup.
While giving out awards to play, Bromsgrove also celebrated the volunteer person of the season, which this year went to longstanding member Phil Duffy who picked up the Joe Tilt Award.
