CENTURIES from Scott Burrows and Deon Patel got Bromsgrove Seconds’ pre-season off to a winning start at near-neighbours Avoncroft.
Patel’s 113 not out (retired) came off just 51 deliveries as the youngster made a good first impression on his debut since joining from Halesowen.
Burrows hit an unbeaten 102 off 106 balls as Bromsgrove reached 270-3 from their 40 overs before bowling out Croft for 170.
The wickets were shared by Max Smith (2-19), Tom Downing (2-45), Paul Hutchins (2-26), Adam Jones (2-12) and Nick Blackmore (2-28).
Bromsgrove Firsts are in pre-season friendly action this weekend when they entertain local rivals Barnt Green at St Godwald’s Park on Saturday.
The Seconds travel to Halesowen, the Thirds make the trip to Stourport-on-Severn while the Fourths take on Lye Seconds (all 1pm starts).
