FAMOUS West Midlands football faces will be the star guests at a grand football forum being staged in Rubery this month.

The event is taking place at Rubery Social Club on Friday, February 20 and will feature Brendon Batson OBE, Tony Morley and Kenny Burns, who has stepped in to replace Kevan Broadhurst who can no longer attend.

The question and answer evening is taking place in aid of Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice and Acorns Children’s Hospice and is sure to be an evening to savour as the former stars of West Bromwich Albion, Aston Villa and Birmingham City will recollect their experiences of the game.

Guest compere for the event will be ITV News Central presenter and sports correspondent Steve Clamp and there will be pre-event music from Max, music after the Q&A from The Numan League 80s cover band and a celebrity raffle featuring some superb football prizes.

Among the items up for grabs in the raffle are Aston Villa match tickets and a signed WBA football and there will be chance to have pictures taken with the football celebrities.

Former Albion right back Batson is a highly respected figure in the game as a special adviser to the Football Association and Trustee of the Professional Footballers’ Association.

Versatile Burns scored 45 goals in 170 appearances as a fans’ favourite at Blues between 1971-77 before transferring to Nottingham Forest where he was converted into a defender and enjoyed huge success.

Burns was voted Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year in 1977/78 as Forest won the First Division title and he was an influential figure in the side’s European Cup triumphs of 1979 and 1980.

He also managed to score in the second leg of the 1979/80 UEFA Super Cup final victory against Barcelona.

Morley won the League Championship and European Cup with Villa in 1981 and 1982 respectively before having spells with the Baggies and Blues.
