Bromsgrove Sporting Reserves secure 2-1 win at Walsall Wood in Challenge Trophy

BROMSGROVE Sporting’s Reserves moved up to second in Group B of the Midland League Challenge Trophy with a 2-1 victory at Walsall Wood Reserves.

The Rouslers played some lovely football with tempo and endeavor in the first half but they failed to convert any of the six clear-cut chances they created.

At the break, the hard-working Danny Moy was replaced by Brad Talbot to lead the line but it was Wood who went ahead on the hour mark when Callum Hall slotted home a penalty.

This kicked Sporting into gear and with 15 minutes to go they drew level.

Nathan Binner’s delicious corner was met by Marco Zizzi whose bullet header hit the back of the net.

And eight minutes later the turnaround was complete when a pin-point pass from Binner was well controlled by Talbot who rounded the keeper and slotted the ball into an empty net.

Sporting travel to Cadbury Athletic Reserves on Saturday for another Challenge Trophy clash before making the trip to Malvern Town U21s in the Worcestershire FA Saturday Junior Cup on Tuesday.
