Bromsgrove make welcome return to Midlands Leagues for 2017/18 campaign

BROMSGROVE will return to the Midlands Leagues for the 2017/18 season after spending a year in National Three South West.

The Boars were level transferred from National Three Midlands last summer despite an appeal against the RFU’s decision.

Having finished bottom of the South West table in a turbulent year, Dan Protherough’s side will now return as a Midlands West One club for the new campaign.

They will now face fellow North Midlands RFU clubs Camp Hill, Dudley Kingswinford, Hereford, Moseley Oak, Stourbridge Lions and Worcester Wanderers.

Bromsgrove’s director of rugby Protherough said: “We are looking forward to the challenge of being back in the Midlands.

“There are lots of local derby fixtures which is what rugby should be about at this level of the game.

“Being back in the Midlands league has put us well on our way to bringing in some new faces.

“We have already made a couple of new signings and more are in the pipeline but we are just waiting for the paperwork to be completed.”

Back row forward James Martin joins the Boars from Old Halesonians while full-back Bryn Williams joins from Redditch.
